Meet the Team
Katie Fang – Project Manager
Hi, I’m Katie! As a fourth-year World Arts and Cultures major, I’m passionate about creative storytelling as a means of interdisciplinary and cross-cultural connection. As Project Manager, I kept track of key checkpoints and helped to develop the narrative that threads together our research questions. My favorite film is Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke.
Beck Zimmerman – Data Visualization Specialist
Hey, I’m Beck, a third-year Statistics and Data Science major and Digital Humanities minor. As the team’s Data Visualization Specialist I worked with Zahra, our team’s Data Specialist to create data visualizations that help provide deeper analysis into our narrative. My favorite movie is between Whiplash and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I appreciate you taking the time to take a peak through this website and I hope you gained some knowledgeable insight into the world of female representation in cinema.
Lucy Rich – Web Designer
Hi, I’m Lucy, a fourth-year Communications major and Digital Humanities minor. My role as Web Designer for this project was to make our research accessible and visually appealing to a general audience. Riya Patel – Content Developer
Hi, I’m Riya, a second-year Business Economics major and Digital Humanities minor. I served as the Content Developer, ensuring the overall narrative of our project came together cohesively. I love learning and exploring the intersection between the storytelling behind data and creative storytelling behind film and TV. My favorite film is the timeless Ratatouille!
Zahra Umar – Data Specialist
Hi, I’m Zahra, a third-year majoring in Statistics & Data Science along with a Digital Humanities Minor. I contributed as the Data Specialist, where I helped guide our data processing and analytical strategy and worked alongside Beck, our Data Visualization Specialist to build a clear and cohesive narrative. My favorite film is Ocean’s 8!
Kobe Simon – Editor
Hi, I’m Kobe; I’m a first-year transfer double-majoring in English and Political Science, and hoping to minor in Entrepreneurship if I can squeeze in the time. Throughout this project i worked as the Editor, surveying our work for accuracy and conciseness. While I have a hard time picking a single definitive ‘favorite film’, my favorite director is Christopher Nolan.
